Litter trap number two for Cairns Regional Council, installed in June 2009 at Moody Creek by James from Bandalong, crane operator Richard and DTE excavations.
This site has a tidal difference of around 1.5 metres and an approximate width of 25 metres. The litter shown in these pictures was collected even before we had completed the installation.
Shows that the Bandalong litter traps start working from the minute they hit the water.
Cleaner Waters for the United States and America's First Family
This Bandalong Litter Trap was installed in Washington DC by our USA licensed partners Storm Water Systems in April 2009 and is the first Litter Trap to be installed in the USA. As clearly visible in these recent photos the litter trap again show how effective they are at capturing litter in our waterways. This is only one of many thousands planned to be installed throughout the USA. Well done to the team at Storm Water Systems USA.
Those attending the unveiling of the first Litter Trap in North America included Washington DC Mayor Adrian M Fenty, Storm Water Systems USA, Bandalong International Australia, District Department of the Environment, Anacostia Riverkeeper, Earth Conservation Corps and hundreds of other special guests. This event was held on 12 May 09.

Bandalong Doubles up for Fremantle Ports in Western Australia.
Bandalong installed two unique litter traps for Fremantle Ports in June 2007.
This design was based on Bandalong's CBD Litter Trap then modified to incorporate
deflector plates, inner lift out basket lined with oil sorbent booms and double
swinging gate sensitive enough to open and close with tidal movement. Each
Litter Trap is held on station by vertical slider poles connecting the roller
carriages on the Litter Traps this allows for tidal movement. The Litter Traps
modifications were designed by Bandalong's Brian Noble.
Even the dolphins were impressed!

Merri Creek Floating Litter Trapped
Bandalong has recently relocated a Litter Trap from the Moonee Ponds Creek
to the Merri Creek in Clifton Hill just under the Eastern Freeway in conjunction
with Theiss Services and Melbourne Water. Andrew Lawrie from Theiss Services
believes the Litter Trap would be put to greater use as the
Moonee Ponds Creek already has a very effective
Bandalong litter trap 500 metres upstream from where this
trap was originally located. Theiss will monitor the litter and vegetation
that is removed from this trap on a ongoing basis.

Sydney
Airport cleans up with Bandalong
Our most recent Litter Trap installation in Sydney was in the Botany wetlands near the east end of the East/West runway. This Bandalong
Litter Trap is a large 9 meters long x 3 metres wide allowing for large volumes of litter and vegetation to be collected in both normal conditions and heavy rainfall. This waterway is not used for recreational water craft so we attached eight six metre collection booms to the trap on the left hand side looking upstream enabling us to cover the entire waterway making the trap very affective.

Lake Narracan
The other installation was in Yallourn North at Lake Narracan, the lake is used for public recreation and the main purpose of this Bandalong
Boom was to ensure the safety of the general public keeping them well away from the weir along with the prevention of large logs clogging up the outlet grate to the weir wall during normal flow. This boom is anchored with 20mm x 450mm Stainless Steel threaded rod combined with chemset into the rock face. Thanks to SRW staff in assisting us and providing workboat access.

Southern Rural Water (SRW)
We undertook two Bandalong Boom installations for SRW in September and October 2005. The first installation was in Goodman's Creek Bacchus Marsh, the main purpose of this boom was to stop the logs and vegetation getting caught in the inlet to a pipeline flowing into the Merrimu Reservoir. The vegetation now flows past the inlet up to higher ground and settles in position once the water level falls, this results in uninterrupted water flow into the reservoir and easier to maintain for SRW.

On the Move
On The Move. We have designed The Bandalong Movable Litter Trap, this gives our clients other options along with our moored Litter Trap in the battle against litter in our waterways. The Movable Trap can be used during general waterway patrols also during special events like Melbourne's Grand Prix on Albert Park Lake ensuring unsightly litter is collected quickly and effectively.
